Sunny run this morning trying some new trails out Sunny run this morning trying some new trails out 🏃🏽‍♀️
.
It's amazing how even in the middle of a city you can find quiet trail areas like these 🌳🌲
.
I need to look at a map now I think to work out where some of the routes lead too as I didn't want to stray too far from places I knew...

I've decided not to go back to the gym until after my 2nd vaccine which should be in a month or so, so I'm sticking with home workouts for now 🏡🏋🏽‍♀️

Have you been back to the gym yet?

Everyone has different levels of exercise they can tolerate so just because you see someone online exercising more than you doesn't mean they are better than you. It might be that they are over exercising or that they have built up to that level of exercise over time. Just focus on listening to YOUR body and exercising within your limits, not anyone else's 😊

Personal safety while running 🏃🏽‍♀️ . Personal safety while running 🏃🏽‍♀️
.
I didn't go running last week as I felt too scared for my own safety with everything going on and so didn't feel comfortable going out on my own 😢
.
But I went this morning with a newly set up SOS system on my phone, my Garmin on one wrist and this rape alarm I've been using since the autumn after hearing of an incident involving a female runner near me on the other wrist.
.
Even though the alarm provides me with a small sense of security I still plan my routes to avoid certain areas, always have a back up route, constantly look to see who is around me and never wear headphones, and even with all that I still worry about something happening everytime I go running 😢
.
I've never actually been attacked while running but have been catcalled hundreds of time, had car horns beeped at me, been laughed at, told my legs look good when I'm wearing shorts as if I somehow pick my outfits to please random men, and been chased by groups of teenage boys (top tip: if they seem to be chasing you to show off to their friends rather than to hurt you, don't look at them but just gradually speed up until they can't keep up and then all their friends will laugh at them and they'll learn that chasing women isn't funny after all...)
.
And in my job in a busy public library I've had one more serious incident but also countless men say I look pretty/ ask for my number/ ask if I want to go for a drink and it just makes me think, if they act like that when there are often other customers and my colleagues around then what would they be like if I was alone? I don't even report all these 'minor' incidents at work because I don't want to spend half my time filling in incident reports 😐
.
I just wish that women could feel safe going about their daily lives without having to constantly be aware of who is around and worrying about what men will say/ do to them 😡

.
I've been given a very exciting new part time job as a tutor providing practical support to those with mental health difficulties (probably focusing around using exercise/ general healthy lifestyle stuff) and this is the first stage of my training 😊
